I think that if I had to give someone advice who was just starting this class I think would tell them to understand the big picture of the paper but to focus on its parts. it is amazing how simple it seems when you just focus on one part at a time. I think that this class really helped me to see that. Frist dont worry what your topic will be about just focus on the research. Once you get some ideas then narrow it down and you will find your topic. Then focus ont the thesis, next each paragraph. Once you have a paper then you can look at the clean up things, like making sure it flows. I think that other thing I would say is dont give up. If you get fustrated put it down take a breath and go back to it. Last of all I would say that free writing does not always have to be at the begining of your paper. If you get stuck or fustrated free writing can really help you. Not only can it help you to get your thought process working again but it can also work as a stress reducer.

I feel very relieved to have my paper done. I feel good about it though. I learned a lot from this paper not only about writing but also about nutrition. I had a hard time getting started but in the end I really enjoyed they paper. I also found writing this paper and learning the steps really helped me though my anatomy paper. When I did final read through I was amazed that it was actually my paper. I worry of course about my grade, did I miss something, does it make sense and did I get my point a crossed, are all thing I worry about. I think that no matter what grade I get though I will be happy, because I know I worked hard and I feel like it one of my better papers.

I don’t personally like these on line things like blogs, my space, and all that. I feel like people you really don’t want in your life anymore have a way of finding you and getting into your business. I don’t like it. That is one reason to choose to keep personal pictures off my blog. At the same time that keeps the blog from being interesting and personal where people can get to know you better. It also requires a lot of time that I would rather be spending with my son. For school it was a nice exercise and a way to talk with fellow class mates. I was not able to keep up with others blogs that much and not many comments were made to mine. It’s not just for me. I have enjoyed the discussion boards and seminar much more then blogging.

I have to say that I had no idea where I was going with my paper. Then we had to write our ruff draft. I was freaking out I really didn’t know what I wanted to say. Then I just started explaining what the anti-oxidants were and all the sudden it hit me. I only meant for this explanation to be a sentence or two but then I thought maybe that is why everyone roles there eyes when people say you should make sure you eat your daily fruits a vegetables, they do this because they don’t really see why its so important. So I wanted people to understand the impact that something as simple as eating fruits and vegetables can have. I also wanted everyone to understand where they can find these things, and to look past apples bananas and organs, not that there is anything wrong with then but really…I know I get tried of the same thing over and over. Then I thought about well now they know why its important and where to find it but adding it into you diet is easier said then done. So I wanted to point out some fun ways they you can add these things into your diet as well as the fact that there are so many new products out there like pre cut apples, and fruit cup, they even have vegetable cups and V8 fusion drinks, that can make grab and go snacks easy.

These last six weeks in school have been so crazy. I had to drop last term because of my health and well it has not gotten much better. I can’t give up though I have a son to think of and I need a better job. Work is not so crazy though so that has helped but I have been dealing with hospital and medication and test after test around school and work along with trying to make sure my son not only has what he need but that we have some time to play together to. I want to make sure I don’t miss out on to much of his life and if something ever happened to me I really want him to have good memories of me. This paper in a lot of way hits home to me. I have a chronic condition that might have been able to be helped if I had a good diet and ate more fruits and vegetables. It is hereditary so maybe not but I really think that many people underestimate there health till they are all of the sudden faced with a problem and then it can often be too late. The cost alone to be treats is like 6 times the cost of just eating right to begin with. This has been one of my favorite classes though not only because of great class mates but also a great teacher, I have not had a teach yet you cared so much about us as students and who has been so willing to help us out.

I have to say that in a lot of ways so far all my classes have really helped me to communicate better and to write better papers. I'm not really sure how I'm doing it. I feel that in the past I spend more time on my papers and now I feel that I'm rushing through them but I seem to get really strong feed back. Organization and research doesn’t seem to be a problem for me. Mostly its things like grammar and punition, and paraphrasing. Some times I look back on my paper when its all done and I'm surprised that it came out of my head, that its my work. I remember last term I told my friend that I didn’t remember being that smart. I think the big thing is that there is always more to learn and that it’s important to hear what people say about your writing and just continue to make changes, practice, ask question and try. In the end all you can do is get better.

I think that the internet makes doing research and citing people a little harder. It makes it harder to find credible research, and then to find who wrote the work you are looking at. I don’t know much about YouTube and Wikipedia but I know they do not have good reputations and from what I understand anyone can post to Wikipedia. I think that as a student or a professional we have to be very carful about were we chose to do our research and to make sure that the information we are using comes from strong sources. In turn I think that this will make it easier for us to cit our sources, I do have much more understanding about the important to citing, and wanting to give credit to people for the work they have done. I just wish it was not so hard. It seems like with each new class, each teacher tells you something different. It seems like there is no right answer sometimes.

I do like on-lines classes more then on campus. It makes it really easy to work a schedule around my son. You end up saving a lot of time, you don’t have to get read, drive to the school, and then try to find a parking spot. I think the thing that I don’t like the most about this kind of schooling is its hard to get a hold of people. Teachers (at least most) are easy to get a hold of but other staffing is really hard to reach, its very frustrating. I have been trying to reach finical aid for two weeks. My academic advisor is horrible. I think that it is really easy to get to know you class mates, but what I like is your not forced to. I have not really tried to do study groups or have to do any group project but I can image that it can be very hard to get together with people to work on group projects or to study together. I know some people do it very well. I personal am not very social in my class and its hard enough to get on for seminar let alone met up with people. I think its nice to have a choice on how close you get to people. I like to get on do my work and get off, and sometimes I plan to do work and have to put it down and come back to it because my son needs me. Time differences can make it hard as well when trying to get in touch with people. It would also be nice if our terms were a little longer. Some classes are trying to fit just a little to much into one class. This on-line school is a life savor for me, I would never have been able to go to school if I had to attend a class. I just worry that if it will pan out to a job that I can live off of.

Everything seems to be on fast forward these days. Work is so crazy right now with inventory and we haven’t been getting very good visits from the CEO so our management team is really on edge and moral is dropping so fast. When that happens not only does it suck to go to work but you often have to work 3 times as hard to make up for the people who don’t do their job and people still walk all over you. Grrrrrrr. I'm so frustrated with my life right now. My son is growing so fast and I try to spend every minute I'm not at work or do school with him and he seems to hate me right now. Everyone says it’s a thing kids go through and that I'm not doing anything wrong, even if I was home with him 24/7 he would still be like this but it’s really hard.

Welcome

I wanted to start out my blogging with saying hello. I’m very new to this like it sound that most of us are. I’m excited for this new experience. I also wanted to share what degree I'm working for and why. I'm going to the medical transcription degree. Some days I think that I'm crazy for trying to do this, but I have spent a lot of time in the hospital and in doctors offices and I know how the staff can be a support system, friend and even a life line for a patient. I really want to be a part of something but I don’t see myself as someone who could be a nurse or anything like that. I thought medical transcription seems like a fitting job for me, and it’s not a major part of the team but still a part.
